Prof. Dr. Alexander Mirtchev

Prof. Dr. Alexander V. Mirtchev is the curator of the Hellenistic Tanagra Figurine Educational Initiative.  He is a scholar of the Ancient Greek philosophy, as well as an accomplished American academic, executive and philanthropist.

Dr. Mirtchev is a Distinguished Visiting Professor at George Mason University’s Schar School of Government and Policy and a Vice Chair of the Atlantic Council of the United States. He has held prominent roles such as Vice President of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in the UK and Executive Chairman of RUSI International. Dr. Mirtchev is also a Founding Member of the Kissinger Institute on China and the United States at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, where he served as a Senior Fellow and on the Wilson National Cabinet.

His recent work, The Prologue: The Alternative Energy Megatrend in the Age of Great Power Competition, has been praised for its timely insights into 21st-century global security challenges and is available in multiple languages.

Dr. Mirtchev leads initiatives in alternative energy, artificial intelligence, and advanced technologies. He has chaired both a sustainable development fund and a sovereign wealth fund, and has directed a high-end risk mitigation services joint venture with a NASDAQ-listed company. Additionally, he was a Director at a leading Washington, D.C. law firm specializing in WTO negotiations.

Beyond his academic and professional roles, Dr. Mirtchev is a member of esteemed organizations such as Chatham House, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the James Madison Council of the Library of Congress.
